Ovulation Help

In the last 24 hours I have heard of TWO new myths that are supposed to help ovulation. I want to try them.

The first one I heard about was LICORICE (or licorice root). Yes. Supposedly taken for five days in your cycle and it is supposed to help. But they say it doesn't matter WHEN in the cycle.... I haven't found it yet but going to Walmart tomorrow and will look there. I know they sell it online (I don't like the flavor of licorice, so would rather take a vitamin). Supposed to help with depression too... Maybe something some of us could use after years in this cycle.

Second was a swig of Robitussin a total of 6 days (five before ovulation and the day of). Even says you can take it with Clomid but to take it after you take the last pill. It is supposed to help the cervical mucus become more fertility-friendly, especially since Clomid tends to do the opposite. Read about it here!!

Since I take my last Clomid tomorrow, I might buy some Robitussin and give it a shot. I can't STAND liquid medicine but I'm sure I can make a sacrifice for this goal :o)

  1. Hi Shannon, I have been reading your blog for the past few months and just recently got my bfp this past week after a year and a half ttc and my third cycle of clomid. I wanted to let you know, you can use the pill form of Robitussin which is Mucinex. I took the 12h Mucinex pill form around my O time and used Preseed, a fertility-friendly lube. Wishing you tons of luck!!

    1. Awesome! I am SOOOO glad you told me about the pill Mucinex because I HATE liquid medicine... They actually make me throw up! I took my last clomid this morning so figure I'd start the Mucinex tonight and hopefully I will ovulate and it will go well! My goal main goal is to get pregnant but to just ovulate would be awesome because I wouldn't feel so broken if I could just fix THAT part.

  2. No problem! Happy to give a tip from one infertile to another:). Just as an FYI, I would continue to bd after cd14. My first 2 months of clomid, I didn't ovulate until cd18/19 (took it cd5-9), and third month I didn't ovulate until cd28/29 (think stress delayed it) which is when I got my bfp! My first 2 months I was on 50 mg and third month 100mg. Lots of luck to you!!
