I took my last bc pill. First sonogram and e2 are Friday morning. I'm getting so super excited and anxious! I really hope this works the first time.
They called with my hubby's tests and everything is perfect. Which we knew.... LoL and his genetic testing came back and he doesn't carry anything bad, which is awesome because I am a cystic fibrosis carrier, which was a scary concern. I'm so glad we won't have to worry about that but it's been cleared now. Friday seems so close and so far...
We still haven't told anyone and I feel like I wanna scream because its so exciting but I don't want the stress. I still have no idea what I'm going to tell my mom on WHY I'll be out of work for a week... LoL we were off yesterday and today and she txt this morning all worried why I was off -__- ...idk what we are going to do... I can't have her all hovering while trying to relax, but if I tell her what we are doing she's going to hover and stress me out because she wants a grand baby soooooo bad... so I get the same results... Idk what to do...

Mrs Red's IVF
March 26, 2012 Was day three of my cycle... This is the one where I am supposed to call the RE to get BC so that we can start the stuff for IVF. I was soooo nervous because OF COURSE my cycle starts on a Saturday! I called the doctor's office as soon as they opened and left a message for the nurse. They called me back at 945 and asked me to come right away so they could get blood work and give me my script. I told my boss I'd be back in a few hours and hurried to the medical center. They took a little blood and told me they would call me with calendar dates of stuff. Said I'd have to have another saline histogram (since I have a history of uterine polyps), my hubby would need to take an HIV and Hep B test, and that he needed another swimmer check since our last IUI was a year ago. I left the office excited and anxious lol
Wednesday, my nurse called and gave me my Estradiol and FSH numbers and said they were perfect! YAY, Nothing is EVER perfect with me!! LOL, and she gave me the dates for my sono's, E2 checks and a round about time frame of when we'll do the retrieval/transfer.
I went yesterday (April 2nd) to the doctor with my hubby and they did the saline histogram (I could be spelling that wrong so forgive me) and to meet with the anesthesiologist. They were concerned with my BMI and wanted to make sure I wouldn't have any breathing problems. Anesthesiologist said that she didn't see what problems I would have but still asked me all the problems and said I was healthy enough :) So then we did the saline test. They do the transvaginal ultrasound first to get a baseline check of everything, then they take that out, put the speculum, which hurt, and then poke a catheter through the cervix and up into the uterus. Then back in the ultrasound thing goes, then they take a picture of where the tip is and then start injecting the uterus with saline, at first it just feels weird, but as it starts filling up, omg it hurt and caused so much cramping. Then I hear them say, oh look, I think there's a polyps at the end there. :( I wanted to cry. Polyps mean surgery, surgery means 2 months before we can do ivf, I got really sad. But they're just nurses. LoL The doctor looked at the pictures and said, I need to see the video, I'll brb. Before he left he showed us what I had last time and it looked different. While he was gone, we talked about what surgery would mean, not just a delay but I don't get paid for days off, and we prayed. The doctor comes back and confirms that the nurse just scraped the inside of my uterus and it was just a flap she made and he wasn't going to do surgery! YAY!!! We will have retrieval/transfer the week of April 30th!!!

February 13, 2011
One year ago today my husband and I went to the fertility clinic for our first actual IUI procedure. We were both so nervous. A few weeks before I caught bronchitis and was still getting over it. I hoped that my coughing wouldn't hinder the procedure... So we get to the clinic at 7 am and Miguel makes his deposit. Then we go to Einstein bagel brothers and have breakfast and just wait til it's procedure time. We got back about 30 mins early and just waited in he waiting room. Finally they took us back and told us how awesome my hubby's swimmers were and explained the procedure. Then we started. They put the speculum in and then put the turkey baster in and inseminated me. My husband gel my hand the whole time. It pinched a little but it wasn't bad or anything. Then they left us alone in the room. I kept trying not to cough but didn't help. I had no idea the Obgyn tables tilted like they do haha. Well we went home and I took a nap in bed (even though bed rest isn't required). When I woke up, my hubby had the biiiiigest bouquet of flowers for me and an even bigger smile and said happy valentines day! It was Sunday February 13, 2011. I'll never forget it. The date of my first failed IUI. I was crushed when we found out it didn't work... Even more crushed when my best friend told me she was pregnant. I was jealous because she is so fertile, and I'm well.... Not....
One year ago today... We were so happy and full of hope, it really was a good day. Too bad it couldn't have been memorable for a better reason :-/

"Infertile" vs "Infertility"
Google: "not fertile; unable to reproduce"
MedicineNet.com: "Not able to conceive after a year of regular intercourse without contraception"
thefreedictionary.com: "no fertile; unproductive; barren; incapable of producing offspring; sterile"
I am not infertile. To me, infertile and infertility are two DIFFERENT things.
Infertile is when your eggs are gone. You can't produce sperm or the sperm has too many issues to overcome.
Infertility is not being able to conceive naturally.
I suffer from infertility. My eggs don't release from the ovary into the fallopian tubes. BUT. I have eggs, therefore I am not "infertile". As you read my posts, you can probably notice that I dance around the use of that word. I will change it. Infertile is a word lacking any hope.
I have hope. Lots of hope.

Confirming Its You Not Him
My journey continues a couple years later.... October 2010.
I had gotten news that a SIL was pregnant. I didn't take it well. (More on that to come). The next day, Hubs and I took off and tried to get further into setting up the infertility appointment with a specialist company.
Didn't even think that it can take WEEKS.
March 2011 we finally had our meeting with Dr. Christine Mansfield from Center for Assisted Reproduction Embryo.net. She was AMAZING. She was very informative and encouraging. I went over medical history (and brought in copies). She did an ultrasound to confirm PCOS (said I had at least 20 follicles on each ovary when most women have MAYBE 12) and noted my uterine lining was thick but said it may be from not having a period in so long (I already diagnosed that I am anovulatory). She also requested I take a glucose test to confirm that I didn't have hidden issues with my sugars that wouldn't show up in normal blood work.
She spoke to us about what our possibilities were based on my previous doctor records and their reports of me having PCOS. She recommended doing Clomid again since I have lost so much weight since the first round, and possibly doing Clomid with an insemination (they stick the sperm straight into my uterus when I ovulate). Did you know that Clomid works best at the lower doses?? The chances of conceiving are HIGHER at the low dose because at the higher dosage the lining in the uterus thins and there is only a 5% chance. BTW... each round of Clomid is $950. And each round is only 1 month. The insemination one is $1050 each round.
Through this whole meeting, the Hubs was with me (of course). And he was a nervous wreck. He knew he was going to have to do a sperm analysis. He actually wanted to just so we knew what all our cards were. But he was nervous. I tried to get him this book:
But he refused to read it. Let me try to properly tell what he told me:
They called him to take the test and had him sign in with a time. He saw there was a sign out time so he assumed it wouldn't take him long so he put for 5 minutes after he went in. 25 minutes later... He came back out. I asked him about it and he said he was fairly confident that it would be no problem, just like masturbating. He said the room was ok and had magazines but he'd be okay and then flip the page and there would be Zach Galifianakis' face advertising a movie. And there would go all his hard work. He said on top of that he could hear the toilet flushing in the adjoining room and voices when people would walk by. He was worried that if HE could hear THEM and THEY could hear HIM. Basically he told me that, although he didn't believe it before, it is possible to cum when not hard. LOL
Anyhow, within 10 minutes of his turning in the donation they came back with the results.... Drumroll please....
PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS! 2.5 times the minimum number of sperm, and 1.5 times the minimum motility! In other words, his sperm was AWESOME.
And I was relieved that he didn't have a problem and it was just me. JUST ME. Great. Now I felt like crap even more. It is hard to explain. I didn't want anything to be wrong with him. He stressed about it enough and was sure that it was him. He need the confidence boost. I was so glad we didn't have any more complications. But that little part of me hurt. Knowing that I am the one to blame for not being able to get pregnant. Having to do fertility treatments is because of MY body. Not being able to create a family like most other couples is because of ME.
Some things are hard to not dwell on. Even now.
